Terms of Service

Last updated: 2026-06-26 · Effective for purchases made on or after this date

1. Who we are

"Vault," "we," "us," and "our" refer to GUZER Marketing UG (haftungsbeschränkt), registered with Amtsgericht Köln under HRB 114611 ("the operator"), the entity operating this service. You can reach us at support@permanentstorage.cloud.

"You" and "your" refer to anyone who purchases a Vault license or uses the Vault service.

2. What the service is

Vault is an encrypted document storage service. You upload PDF and text files; we store the encrypted bytes; you can retrieve, search, and export them. Files are encrypted in your browser using AES-GCM-256 before upload, and the encryption key is derived from a recovery key generated at purchase. We do not hold a copy of your encryption key and cannot read your file contents.

3. Your account

Your account is identified by a 16-digit recovery key generated at the time of your purchase. We do not collect your email, name, or other personal identifiers at signup. The recovery key is shown to you exactly once and we do not retain a copy.

You are solely responsible for keeping your recovery key safe. If you lose your recovery key, your account and all files in it become permanently unrecoverable. We cannot reset the key, recover the files, or otherwise restore access. This is a deliberate property of the service.

4. What you pay and what you get

You pay a one-time fee for a tier (Starter, Pro, or Family). In exchange, we commit to:

The one-time fee does not entitle you to unlimited future development, feature requests, or support beyond what's reasonable for a one-time-payment product.

5. Acceptable use

You may not use Vault to store:

We do not and cannot read your file contents. Enforcement of this clause relies on credible reports, payment provider notifications, and law enforcement requests. If we receive a credible report that your account is being used for prohibited purposes, we may terminate the account; in such cases your files become permanently inaccessible.

6. Refunds

If the service does not work for your use case, you may request a refund within 7 days of purchase by emailing support@permanentstorage.cloud with your purchase reference (Stripe session ID or transaction email). After 7 days, purchases are final.

Refunds are processed back to the original payment method via Stripe. Allow 5-10 business days for the refund to appear.

7. Service availability

We aim for high availability but do not guarantee 100% uptime. The service depends on third-party infrastructure (Cloudflare, Neon, our hosting provider) and can be interrupted by their outages or by maintenance. We do not offer financial compensation for downtime.

8. Data we hold about you

We hold: a hashed copy of your recovery key (for authentication only — the hash cannot be reversed to the recovery key), the tier you purchased, your storage usage, your file metadata (filenames, tags, notes, sizes, dates), and your encrypted file contents.

We do not hold: your email, your name, your IP address (except a hashed form briefly for abuse prevention), your payment details (those live with Stripe), or anything that would allow us to identify you to third parties.

See the Privacy Policy for full details.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, our total liability arising from your use of Vault is limited to the amount you paid for your license.

We are not liable for: lost recovery keys, files lost as a result of your losing your recovery key, data lost due to third-party infrastructure failures we cannot reasonably prevent, or consequential damages of any kind.

If you are a consumer in a jurisdiction where this limitation cannot legally apply (such as certain EU consumer-protection contexts), your statutory rights are unaffected.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms over time. Material changes will be announced on the homepage at least 30 days before they take effect. Your continued use after that period constitutes acceptance. If you do not accept a change, you can request a refund of any unused portion of your license in good faith.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Germany, with exclusive venue at the courts of Cologne (Köln). Disputes that cannot be resolved through good-faith discussion will be submitted to the courts of that jurisdiction.
